25 killed in Zimbabwe road crash
HARARE, Aug. 29 (Xinhua)
Twenty-five people were killed in Zimbabwe after a commuter omnibus and a haulage truck collided head-on along the Harare-Chivhu highway Friday night, state broadcaster ZBC reported Saturday.
Itayi Ndudzo, minister of state for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East, confirmed that 23 people died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
Two survivors, including the haulage truck driver, were reportedly in critical condition and receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Civil Protection Unit were at the scene assisting with clearance operations. ■
